Bio & Sound
When Maroq arrived in Berlin ten years back from now, it was not long until he discovered the world of electronic music. Having always been passionate about music, five years ago the native-born Peruvian finally decided to take his enthusiasm one step further. Together with Richard Elcox, he started to produce own tracks.
Maroq’s works oscillate somewhere between Tech House and Deep House, and are always topped with summery melodies and hypnotizing grooves. As a consequence, whenever he performs as a DJ, people cannot help but dance.
For his latest project with Richard Elcox, Maroq won over the Armenian opera singer Hovhannes Asatour (Bass) for co-operation. The result of this symbiosis sounds as striking as its name: live Opera Tech House!
And that is not all. Maroq is also enriching Berlin’s renowned electro scene as an event manager. For more than three years now, he and a group of friends have been organizing the non-profit Vergissmeinnicht (Forget-Me-Not) parties: Vergissmeinnicht successfully combines exceptional performances and stunning visuals. Whether taking place indoors or in the open air – the concept has proven to be a winner. Last year Vergissmeinnicht was launched in Maroq’s home country Peru. New York is in the making.
