Schon morgen (11.2.2012) treibt unser jüngstes Pferdchen im Stall die rhythmussuchende Meute an, denn die TreibGut-crew fordert erneut zum Tanz auf: Bacalao & Sonne spielen live im Mädcheninternat. Der Live-Act Bacalao & Sonne überzeugt nun seit fast einem Jahr mit abwechslungsreichen Livesets, die sie jedes mal neu kreieren. Die Friedrichshainer Partyveranstalter von TreibGut hatten also einen guten Grund die Jungs mit ins Boot zu holen: 11 Stunden –  2 Floors –  8 Djs und – 2 Liveacts. sehsüchte präsentiert auch in diesem Jahr im Anschluss an den Empfang der Filmhochschulen die legendäre Filmschool Party, zu der natürlich alle Filmfreunde herzlich eingeladen sind. Die Filmschool Party steht schon in langer Tradition des größten internationalen Studentenfilmfestivals Europas und wird dieses Jahr als Gemeinschaftsprojekt mit dem Asta der HFF geschmissen. In Box 1 verausgabt sich am 14. Februar das Berliner House-Duo Trickski (suol), die mit ihrem Debüt-Album Unreality  im letzten Jahr durchaus auf sich Aufmerksam gemacht haben. Unterstützung bekommen die Jungs von ASA 808 (Hasta La Otra México!) und den aus dem Areal des RAW-Tempels wohl bekannten Spacehoppers (Kalimero). In Box 2 spielen der Leipziger Club-Veteran filburt und Tim Turner. Apropos Berlinale-Fieber: Das wohl charmanteste Studentenfilmfestival sehsüchte findet dann aber erst vom 24.-29.04. 2012 statt  -  und zwar immerhin schon zum 41. mal.

Werbeplakate von entwicklungspolitischen Organisationen fallen auf. Stark emotionalisierend und stigmatisierend prägen sie in Deutschland schwarze und weiße Identitätsbildung. Diesem Thema widmet sich der gemeinnützige Verein Commit Berlin e.V. und zeigt am Dienstag den Dokumentarfilm “White Charity” (48min)  in der Neuköllner B-Lage. Die Filmemachenden Timo Kiesel und Carolin Philipp untersuchen weißes Spendenverhalten und die Plakatierungs- und Werbestrategien westlicher weißer Spendenaufrufe. Zugrunde liegende Rassismen und Afrika-Bilder werden kritisch beleuchtet. Anschließend besteht die Möglichkeit einer offenen Diskussion mit Timo Kiesel. Mit “White Charity” startet eine dreiteilige Filmreihe, mit der sich Commit Berlin e.V. für politische Bildungsarbeit und interkulturellen Austausch einsetzt.

‘white charity’ - Blackness & whiteness on charity ad posters: Billboards of charitable organisations such as ‘Brot für die Welt’, ‘Welthungerhilfe’, ‘Kindernothilfe’ or ‘Care’ are omnipresent in streets, on squares, in train and metro stations in Germany. They have a large impact on how Black and whiteidentities in Germany are constructed. The documentary analyses the charity aid posters from a postcolonial perspective. ’white charity’ presents different perspectives: based on the charity ad posters, representatives of charities and scientists discuss about development cooperation, colonial fantasies, racism and power structures. The documentary is an exemplary analysis of racism in images which has relevance far beyond the horizon of development. It supports a sharper analysis of images in commercials, print and TV. A film by Carolin Philipp and Timo Kiesel.

Dear OneBeat Artists, Supporters, Partners and Followers.

2011 was the first year of our young organization and we’d like to thank everyone for their great support and hard work. We’re looking back to lots of good music from our great artists, fun events and we’re thankful for all we have achieved. We’ll be taking it easy in January and do some proper planning of what there is to come. The project is growing slowly but in a healthy rhythm and we already have some exciting news to announce for 2012:

New partner: Blu:boks Berlin & Planet der Affen

We’ve decided to support another social project in the Berlin area and looking forward to start our cooperation in 2012. The social and cultural project Blu:boks, located in Berlin Lichtenberg, thrives to find and support artistic talent in children and teenagers with the goal of strengthening their self-confidence and to develop a good perspective in life. Find out everything about it on www.bluboksberlin.de.

We will start to collaborate with the montly event series organized by the great folks from Planet der Affen.
Every second thursday of each month der organization supports Berlin-based artists by creating an open stage inviting a big variety of artistic directions to present their work. Bands, Dancers, Poets, Singers present their work at the Chesters Inn in Kreuzberg on regular basis. They’ve had some amazing nights and lots more to come. Good news also on the artist side. Those who came to our experimental session#2 in Neukölln on the 16th of December already know him: Kyson aka Jian and his deep downtempo music full of positive vibes. His soundcloud profile is becoming increasingly popular and we know why…
More good news: we’re happy to announce that the Berlin DJ und producer duo“Bacalao & Sonne” joined the collective with their uplifting tech-house. These young Berliners have served quite some dancefloors recently and we’re glad to be able to support them on their way up. Welcome Bacalao & Sonne!

Worth mentioning here: we do realize that the project currently has a strong focus on electronic music. It’s a big part but of course we’re looking for bands, singer-songwriter artists and everything inbetween and beyond.. so if you know someone who knows someone: write us emails, help us find them and help them find us!
