03.06.12 by Lukas

Last weekend Onebeat met the Viva con Agua stage at the Carnival of Cultures (Karneval der Kulturen) for the second time. We enjoyed an amazing afternoon with some of Berlin’s best sunshine. The day kicked off with Mr. Space Commander, who just showed up and wanted to play in front of the Stage while we where setting up. Some seriously good entertainment.. thanks David, you are crazy, in a wonderful way! Sadly we don’t have any pictures of that, but his website sure is worth a visit.  Check www.spacecommander.tv.

We kicked off with a concert by Lavoisier, went over to a great set by Ma Tias, continuing with experimental electronica lives by Kyson and Wermonster. The rest of the day we had a proper dance with James A. Shaw and Bacalao & Sonne, who already rocked our dance floor on our showcase at Brunnen70 in Wedding 2 weeks before. Great crowd, great music and of course support for our partner, the charitable organization Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli, campaigning for clean drinking water worldwide. Check them out, full support.. wonderful people working for a good cause. All OneBeat artists played for free thus supporting Viva con Agua’s activities. Thanks everyone!

arrowPhotos: OneBeat Experimental Sessions#1 with Schloss Mirabell and Nicholas Bussmann – 24.09.2011

27.09.11 by Lukas

Schloss Mirabell 2

Schloss Mirabell 1

On Saturday the 24th our first “Experimental Session” took place in Joao Cocteau in Neukölln. With the  sessions we start our approach to small events based on experimental music and music performance.
We invited our artist Schloss Mirabell to play a concert based on her productions, cello and soundtoys. To our positive surprise she invited Nicholas Bussman, a Berlin-based musician and composer, to perform alongside.
Nicholas plays the cello, explores electronic productions and has long term collaborations with several artists. One of them is Telebossa (www.telebossa.com), an “interplay between musical cultures and the incessant exploration of Samba, Jazz and Chamber Music”.
With 2 Cellos, 2 Laptops and several Soundtoys the evening was shaping up to a very exclusive show.  The outcome of the 1 hour+ show was a entertaining mix of Florina’s electronic ambient productions accompanied by 2 cellos, music performance with sound toys and an interpretation of Nicholas’s productions.
We hope everyone enjoyed the event as much as we did. Big thanks to Florina (Schloss Mirabell), Nicholas Bussmann, Joao Cocteau for their lovely space and to all who came to see the show. To be continued…

Nicholas Bussmann will be performing with Telebossa at Kater Holzig on Wednesday, 28th of September.
Be sure to check it out.

arrowOnebeat opening party at FriKK Festival 08.08.2011 – Photos

13.08.11 by Lukas

A busy week for OneBeat. We did our first party last monday, which happened to be the opening party for a small non-profit art festival at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, in Kreuzberg. The FriKK Festival 2011. The festival features many concerts, exhibitions, theater performances among others and is still going on until the 17th of August. Check the festival programm here, as there are still some nice events coming up. Our Band Lavoisier is playing there on monday the 15th, 18h, also not to be missed.
Among the usual technical challenges everything went smooth. We started the night with our premiere for RTZ23 who did a vj / dj combination with his own visuals and music. Wermonster was up next with serious beat business, followed by Maroq, who finished the night with one of his notorious dj sets. The dancefloor was full, monday night at Bethanien was the real deal.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did. Big thanks to everyone who came along, and specially to the FriKK crew, which helped us with everything they could.

Click below to see all pictures of what was going down. Sign up on Facebook or on our Newsletter to get the event news, as there surely is more to come.

arrowOneBeat meets Viva con Agua at Karneval der Kulturen 2011 – 11.06.11 – Photos

15.06.11 by Lukas

The Karneval der Kulturen website states that there are “330 market stalls with culinary seducements, arts and crafts and much more.” on the Kdk 2011 street festival. Indeed, the street festival was huge and the whole city vibrated music, different cultures and a party mood over the last weekend, with OneBeat right in the middle of it. Viva con Agua had their sales stands, small stage and chillout area right at the beginning of Zossener Straße, a entry passage to the Karneval.

The stage was ours from 16 pm on but the Event schedule started with a surprise for us at 15h: Jefferson Hope. The young singer/songwriter played 1 hour before our slot started and impressed with smart and witty lyrics and a good performance. Be sure to listen to his music here or catch him on facebook.

Right on time for our slot there was the rain and OneBeat’s musical part started challenging. From an almost 1 hour rainfall to a hardware failure, we had it all when the show was supposed to start. Luckily we managed to fix everything and soon the sun came out again while the rest went smooth and was proper fun. Check out the images below which are ordered in sequence of events.

We’d like to thank the whole Viva con Agua crew for having us. They where super nice and supplied us and our artists with everything we needed.
Massive thanks, we where impressed with their dedication and hard work for a good cause. Big shout out also to our artists and to the OneBeat crew.

More to come, see you there next time!
